MAY AND MOTHER’S DAY EVENTS

Summer break is inching closer and by now your kids are probably bursting at the seams with anticipation. Although there’s lots going on between now, there’s still plenty of outings to enjoy with the family over the next month. And don’t forget that Mother’s Day is May 11. Here’s some events in honor of mom.

Month of the Woman
BayCare invites you to participate in the Month of the Woman, an annual series of programs in May that focus on women’s health and wellness. Their women’s health experts will presents more than 25 seminars, screenings and roundtable panels, all tailored specifically to women of all ages. Hillsborough and Pasco County events include a Mother and Daughter Saturday at Sea on May 3 from 10am to 2pm, where young girls and the women who love them will gather to discuss how to navigate the waters of safe social networking. Next Generation Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty Kids
This classic tale of romantic love hides a stirring tension between the forces of good and evil at the heart of human experience. With a timeless score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Sleeping Beauty evokes the magic and splendor of great ballet, performed with passion by Next Generation Ballet, on May 10 at 2 and 4pm. Staged by artistic director Peter Stark and Ivonne Lemus after the original Petipa version, NGB’s interpretation of this dreamy fairy tale is sure to awaken and delight the senses. Seedlings’ Spring Baby Shower
Join Seedlings, 1530 S. Dale Mabry Highway, for its Wild About Life celebration on May 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Shark Con
Girls and boys of all ages will revel in Shark-Con, where they can experience presentations from shark experts (Discovery Channel, National Geographic), informative exhibits and up-close encounters with marine and terrestrial animals. Presented by The Florida Aquarium, this amazing pre-summer event, will give families the opportunity to check out cutting-technology (Roboshark), special shark-themed kids’ activities, a gallery of award winning photography and more than 100 vendors.
