About Dr. Stephanie McGrath

Dr. Stephanie McGrath is Associate Professor, Neurology at Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University and the leader in the field of veterinary CBD research. After multiple years on the clinic floor at the CSU James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital, McGrath got to know a trend in canine epilepsy and seizures. Knowing the medications prescribed to these animals with epilepsy were causing negative side effects and dogs were still having seizures- she set out to find something better.

After the first cannabis drug was approved for human epilepsy in 2018, she needed to explore it’s potential for dogs. Dr. McGrath launched her first cannabis study in 2016 with 16 dogs who had epilepsy. After 89% of dogs who received CBD in the trial had a reduction in the frequency of seizures, he needed to do more. Then, she launched her bigger study in 2018 with 60 dogs with epilepsy which is going to be complete in the next few weeks.
